    • Hello,

The battery warning light typically indicates an issue with the charging system, which involves the alternator, battery, and voltage regulator. From your description, it seems like your Alfa Romeo's alternator might not be working properly. The alternator is responsible for supplying power to the car's electrical systems and charging the battery when the engine is running.

If the alternator isn't charging the battery correctly, the car may run fine for a while off the stored battery power, but over time the battery will drain. This could explain why you saw the warning light during slow driving or idling when the alternator isn't being spun as quickly and may struggle to produce adequate power. The issue with the power steering also points towards an electrical problem, as the power steering system in most modern cars is electrically assisted or fully electric.

I would strongly recommend not to drive the car before getting this issue sorted. Running with a faulty alternator can lead to a complete battery drain, leaving you stranded. Please arrange for the vehicle to be taken to a professional for a thorough diagnostic check. They will be able to test your battery and alternator and determine the exact cause of the problem.

Hope this helps and your issue gets resolved soon. Safe driving!
